The City of Tukwila is now accepting applications for its 2025 City of Opportunity Scholarship Program, offering financial assistance to residents pursuing higher education.
Established in 2014, the scholarship program provides funding for undergraduate studies at community colleges, trade schools, and universities.
Certificate and licensing programs are also eligible.
Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are paid directly to recipients’ schools.
Applicants must be high school seniors or equivalent, demonstrate financial need, and meet a series of eligibility requirements, including proof of Tukwila residency, a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75, and completion of at least 15 hours of community service.
Completed applications must be postmarked or delivered by March 31, 2025, to Cheryl Thompson, Executive Assistant, at 206-433-1850 or cheryl.thompson@tukwilawa.gov. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
The scholarship selection process considers academic accomplishments, community service, references, financial need, and a personal essay.
Notifications will be sent to recipients by May 15, 2025, with awards announced at a subsequent City Council meeting.
