For the second time in the last week, a Tukwila Police Department K9 vehicle was struck during an incident involving a fleeing suspect.

The incident began in the 15000 block of 57th Ave South when officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. As officers arrived, the suspect vehicle attempted to flee and collided with the department’s K9 vehicle.

The male driver fled on foot, while a female passenger remained at the scene.

A police K9 and drone were deployed, and officers located the suspect hiding in dense brush nearby.

During the investigation, the suspect initially provided a false name, but his real identity was later uncovered. Authorities discovered that a domestic violence protection order prohibited him from being near the female passenger.

Officers also recovered a firearm from the suspect’s vehicle.

“Not being new to the system, the suspect promptly threw the ‘I swallowed Fentanyl‘ card down in a desperate attempt to avoid being taken to jail, and as a result was denied by the jail for booking,” Tukwila Police said in a statement.

He was denied booking until medically cleared and escorted to a hospital for evaluation. The suspect now faces multiple charges, including felony eluding, hit-and-run, violating a protection order, and weapons violations.
