A 60-year-old Seattle woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday morning, Mar. 28, 2025 while walking in the roadway on northbound SR 599 near South 133rd Street, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers said the collision occurred around 6:08 a.m., when a vehicle traveling northbound in the right lane hit the pedestrian, who was also in the right lane of travel near the Busbarn area at milepost 1.
The impact threw the woman into the median.
Puget Sound Fire and King County Medic One crews responded to the scene and attempted lifesaving measures, but sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on site, officials confirmed.
The vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder and sustained reportable damage.
The roadway was blocked for nearly three hours as investigators worked at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene, was not injured, and is not facing any charges, Yroopers said.
The Washington State Patrol reported no signs of drugs or alcohol as factors in the crash.
According to the WSP, the cause of the collision was the pedestrian being in the roadway.
No additional vehicles were involved.
