A tragic traffic collision on northbound SR-99 near 14th Ave South near Tukwila claimed the life of a pedestrian Tuesday evening, Dec. 3, 2024, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).

The incident occurred around 7:10 p.m., and resulted in the roadway being blocked for over three hours as investigators worked to gather details.

According to WSP’s preliminary report, the pedestrian was struck by two vehicles in the second lane of the highway.

The identity of the deceased pedestrian, a female, has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

  • The first vehicle, a black 2012 Toyota Corolla, made initial contact.
  • The second vehicle, a gray 2021 Mazda CX-5, also struck the pedestrian shortly after.
  • Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
  • Both vehicles came to a stop in the second lane following the collision.
  • Tow services were called to remove the vehicles, with damage reported to the Corolla and minor, non-reportable damage to the Mazda.
