Tukwila Police are investigating two armed robberies and a shooting that occurred overnight, with officers responding to a series of violent incidents in the area.
Police said that at around 11 p.m. on Monday night, Oct. 7, 2024, officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 13100 block of Interurban Avenue South following a report of an armed robbery. The suspects allegedly stole money from a customer and the store’s register. A bystander confronted the suspects, prompting one of them to fire a shot into the ground in front of the individual. The suspects fled immediately after the incident.
Shortly after, another armed robbery was reported at a convenience store in the 600 block of Strander Boulevard. Based on witness descriptions, police believe the two incidents are connected.
These robberies are part of a string of similar crimes that have occurred in South King County, Seattle, and the Eastside in recent weeks. The Tukwila Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is actively investigating the robberies and working with regional law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Later in the night, at around 3:29 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 11100 block of 49th Avenue South in Skyway. Upon arrival, they found an adult male lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. Officers provided immediate aid until emergency medical services arrived. The victim was transported to a hospital, and the MCU is investigating the shooting.
