Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects accused of stealing about $2,500 in merchandise from the fragrance section of a department store, according to the Tukwila Police Department.
Police said a male and female suspect entered the store, filled two large bags with merchandise and fled on foot into the parking lot. They then got into a stolen car and drove away, according to the department.
Detective Mosley has established probable cause for felony second degree organized retail theft charges against both suspects, police said.
The theft happened in clear view of multiple shoppers and employees, according to police.
Anyone who recognizes either suspect is asked to email tips@tukwilawa.gov or send Tukwila police a direct message on social media.
Police described the case as an example of organized retail crime (ORC), which involves individuals or crews stealing large quantities of merchandise to resell online or elsewhere.
“ORC costs retailers in Washington State close to $3 billion annually,” Tukwila Police said, adding that the losses translate to about $600 million in state and local taxes intended to fund social services and community programs.
