Tukwila’s 42nd Ave S. Bridge – which has been closed to traffic since Dec. 15, 2021 – has partially reopened.
As we previously reported, the aging bridge was closed then after an over-height truck struck a sway frame, inflicting critical damages on the bridge.
Since the closure, steel strengthening repairs and a structural analysis were done to determine if further restrictions were necessary for the bridge.
As of Monday morning (April 4, 2022), the southbound lanes were reopened to traffic.
“We have no further info at this time about the northbound lane reopening or plans for the bridge going forward,” Tukwila Police said.
