The Tukwila City Council is considering a proposal to allow the sale and use of certain types of consumer fireworks in Tukwila, and they want to know what YOU think.
Currently all fireworks are illegal, but this proposal would allow ground-based fireworks that do not explode or project high in the air. Examples include fountains, sparklers, ground-spinners, snakes, and pinwheels. These would only be allowed on certain dates around the 4th of July and New Year’s Eve per state law.
What do you think? The City Council would like to hear from you.

I was shocked to see a fireworks stand in the Saar’s parking lot. That is very close to SeaTac, where fireworks are still completely illegal and where I live. My fear was that the noise from fireworks going off in my neighborhood would increase and sure enough, it did. The noise increased by about 10 times this year, starting several days before the 4th. My wife works from home, and one neighbor right behind out house was setting off very loud fireworks all day on the 4th. We called the police and gave them the exact address, but they never showed up. It continued well past 1AM affecting everyone in my household significantly.
First you cancelled the community fireworks event (something we loved and attended every year) and now you’re allowing fireworks to be sold in our neighborhood. Please be aware that your decisions have had a very negative impact on the community at large.
