Officials want to remind all that fireworks are illegal in the City of Tukwila.
Since 1996, the discharge of fireworks within Tukwila’s city limits has been banned.
Violators can be fined up to $5,000.00, or by imprisonment in jail for a term not exceeding one year, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
“Please do not set them off,” officials said. “Especially now in the hot and super dry conditions that are expected to continue over the next several weeks.”
The use of fireworks is also a significant cause of dangerous fires over a recent July 4th holiday; a fire nearly engulfed apartments above Macadam Road was caused by the use of illegal fireworks in Tukwila
Call the non emergency number 206-241-2121 to report fireworks violations.
“There is a very high fire risk this year due to dry conditions.”
