A welfare check in Tukwila led police to help a woman and two young children who were sleeping in a vehicle after a recent domestic violence assault, according to the Tukwila Police Department.
The welfare check was requested by a 911 caller on July 25 after the woman and children were found sleeping in a vehicle in the 200 block of Andover Park East. Detective Kim responded and, after speaking with the woman, determined she was the victim of a recent domestic violence assault.
Because of the domestic violence situation, the woman and her children had nowhere to turn and were living out of her car, according to police.
Detective Kim and Tukwila Police Mental Health Professionals Fisk and Smith helped the family get a hotel room for the weekend through the Blue Bridge Alliance program, police said.
The department said its mental health professionals are working this week to help the family move into more stable housing.
