Construction is underway on the Fort Dent Levee 2020 Repair Project in Tukwila, a major effort by the King County Flood Control District to repair and stabilize a damaged section of levee along the Green River.

According to the King County Flood Control District, the project is designed to help reduce flood risks to the Green River Trail, Fort Dent Park and Starfire Sports while improving the long term stability of the riverbank and levee system.

Work is expected to continue through Oct. 31, 2026.

The project will repair and stabilize the damaged levee while also creating a more stable riverbank and levee system along the Green River. In addition to flood protection improvements, the project includes environmental enhancements intended to improve salmon habitat and add native trees and shrubs to the area.

As construction progresses, the Green River Trail at Fort Dent Park will be temporarily closed. The King County Flood Control District said signed detours will be in place to help trail users navigate around the work zone.

The Green River corridor is a key recreational and transportation route in South King County, serving residents and visitors who use the trail system and nearby facilities, including Fort Dent Park and Starfire Sports.
