Tukwila Police reported a surge of arrests over the weekend, with multiple DUI cases, warrants served, stolen property recovered and weapons confiscated in separate incidents across the city.

“It was a busy weekend. We have seen quite a rise in DUI’s since the beginning of summer and the trend doesn’t appear to be slowing down,” the Tukwila Police Department said in a statement. “Officers successfully took numerous intoxicated drivers off the roads over the weekend as well as those with warrants that were discovered following routine traffic stops.”

Among the cases, officers stopped a driver in the 5300 block of Southcenter Boulevard who was under a domestic violence protection order. The passenger in the car was the protected person, police said. The driver was arrested and booked into jail.

In another case, officers detained a man and woman in the 3700 block of South 138th Street. Police said the woman was attempting to access a vacant home and the man was sitting in a truck pulling a trailer. Both were found to have active warrants, and the trailer was confirmed to be stolen. It was recovered and returned to the owner.

Officers also responded to a reported assault in the 16500 block of Southcenter Parkway. A juvenile girl told police she was assaulted by a group of other females. Investigators said stories conflicted, with the reporting party later admitting she assaulted her boyfriend, who was not located.

Several traffic stops resulted in DUI arrests, including one in the 5800 block of Southcenter Boulevard where a driver had an active DUI warrant, and another in the 15200 block of Tukwila International Boulevard where a blood draw warrant was issued after signs of intoxication were observed. A third DUI case unfolded on West Valley Highway after a driver was reported vomiting roadside.

Police also recovered dozens of shell casings following an illegal discharge call in the 11400 block of 49th Avenue South. No injuries or property damage were reported.

In a separate call, officers found a highly intoxicated man in the 15800 block of Tukwila International Boulevard carrying a fully loaded shotgun hidden down his pant leg. He was taken to the hospital for detox, and the weapon was confiscated.

Other incidents included a man violating a domestic violence protection order after calling the protected person from jail, a traffic stop that led to a negligent driving warrant arrest, and a stolen vehicle recovery at 300 Strander Boulevard. Police said two suspects linked to that vehicle were detained inside a nearby store. The male suspect had an active warrant for vehicle theft but was declined by jail staff after claiming to have swallowed fentanyl. The female suspect, who had multiple warrants, was booked into jail.

Police also noted one unusual call: a man identifying himself as “Lebron Janes” dialed 911 claiming a raccoon had entered his home and stolen his clothing. Officers were unable to locate the caller or the alleged raccoon.
