Tukwila Police reported multiple arrests and investigations over the past week, involving retail theft, weapons, suspected impaired driving, warrants and narcotics.

Police said officers responded Monday night, July 20 to a Flock automated license plate reader notification after a vehicle associated with an armed robbery and a previous attempt to flee officers entered the city. Officers found the vehicle near Foster Park with four people inside, detained them without incident and turned the case over to the handling agency for further investigation and vehicle processing, according to the department.

In another case, police said three female shoplifting suspects collectively stole about $1,500 in merchandise from a store. Detective Molsey and Officer Schutt were nearby, and all three suspects were taken into custody. Police said one of them had an active felony warrant out of Oregon for first degree theft, and all three are under investigation for organized retail crime.

Police also reported several other retail theft cases. Officers arrested a repeat shoplifting suspect after store employees called 911 to report that he had fled on foot. In a separate case, officers on foot patrol were told that a man had threatened department store employees with nunchucks. Police said he fled, was tracked with help from security and security cameras, and was found hiding in a parking lot. Officers later determined he also had shoplifted from another department store, and he was booked into jail.

Officers responded to another department store after loss prevention reported that a suspect displayed a hatchet during a shoplifting incident. Police said the suspect knocked over a family while fleeing, and an officer took him into custody after a brief foot pursuit. He was booked into jail for third degree theft shoplifting and placing a person in fear, according to the department.

Police said officers also made arrests connected to suspected impaired driving and warrants. Officer Kuehl stopped a vehicle traveling about 83 mph on West Valley Highway, and the driver was taken into custody after showing signs of impairment and admitting to having just smoked meth, according to police. In the 14100 block of Tukwila International Boulevard, officers found a vehicle blocking a southbound lane, with the driver passed out behind the wheel and his foot on the brake. Police said the driver later registered a .17 blood alcohol content and was booked into jail for physical control.

Other reported cases included a drug possession warrant arrest in the 14600 block of Tukwila International Blvd., an assault domestic violence warrant arrest in the 14800 block of Interurban Ave South, a vehicle trespass and obstructing arrest in the 5800 block of South 152nd Street, and a narcotics case in the 300 block of Tukwila Parkway where officers recovered a bag containing about 27 grams of various narcotics.

Police said officers also responded to a casino on Interurban Ave South after a report of an intoxicated man trying to get into multiple vehicles and refusing to leave when confronted by security. Police said Officer Johnson detained the man after a brief struggle, and he was booked into jail for disorderly conduct after security personnel declined to pursue assault charges.

In a more serious case, officers responded to the 300 block of Corporate Drive after a report that a man was chasing a woman and her adult son with a knife while making racially motivated threats to kill them, according to police. The pair locked themselves inside a building, and the suspect attempted to force entry before fleeing as officers arrived. A Renton police K9 assisted, but the suspect was not found. Police said the case was forwarded to the Major Crimes Unit.
