A man was arrested Tuesday night, June 30 after Tukwila Police said he sexually assaulted a victim at a retail location before fleeing the scene and hiding in a nearby dumpster enclosure.
Police said an officer working an off-duty security assignment at the retail location was flagged down immediately after the reported assault. The officer broadcast a description of the suspect, prompting responding officers to search the area.
Police said officers located the suspect after a brief search hiding inside a dumpster enclosure. A perimeter was established, and the suspect complied with officers’ verbal commands to come out before being taken into custody without incident.
The department said K9 Raider responded to assist with an evidence search. During the track, the police dog helped locate multiple pieces of evidence that investigators said had been discarded by the suspect, including a firearm and a firearm magazine near the dumpster.
According to police, the suspect later admitted possessing the firearm. Investigators determined the suspect is prohibited from possessing firearms.
The suspect was booked into jail for investigation of sexual assault and for unlawful possession of a firearm, according to the Tukwila Police Department.
