As Independence Day approaches, the Tukwila Police Department is reminding residents that only fireworks purchased from licensed fireworks stands within the city are legal to use in Tukwila.

Police said that fireworks purchased outside city limits are not legal for use within Tukwila.

Fireworks Are PROHIBITED On:

  • City Parks
  • City-Owned Property
  • School District Property
  • School Grounds and Athletic Fields

“Please respect public spaces and help prevent fires, injuries, and property damage,” police said. “Clean up after yourself and properly dispose of the fireworks once you are done.”

The Tukwila Police Department also shared several safety reminders for those planning to use fireworks legally. Residents are encouraged to keep water or a hose nearby, never allow young children to handle fireworks, use fireworks only as directed by the manufacturer and never relight a malfunctioning firework.

Used fireworks should be soaked in water before being discarded, according to the department.

Police also reminded residents that 911 should be reserved for emergencies and asked people not to call 911 to report fireworks.
