Two people were injured early Monday, May 11 in a five-vehicle crash on northbound I-405 near Southcenter in Tukwila, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash happened at 3:47 a.m. May 11 on northbound I-405 just north of I-5 in Tukwila (map below), according to a WSP press memo.
The crash blocked the roadway for 1 hour and 36 minutes.
WSP said the crash was caused by an unsafe lane change. Drugs or alcohol were not involved, according to the memo.
- Five vehicles were traveling northbound on I-405 just north of I–5 in Tukwila.
- Vehicle #1 was traveling in lane two of four lanes.
- Vehicle #2 was traveling in lane one of four lanes.
- Vehicle #1 changed lanes and struck Vehicle #2.
- After Vehicle #2 came to rest, it was struck by Vehicle #3 in lane one.
- Vehicle #2 was then struck by Vehicle #4.
- Vehicle #4 was then struck by Vehicle #5.
- All vehicles came to rest in lane one, lane two and on the right shoulder.
- WSP said the cause of the crash was an unsafe lane change.
All six people involved were wearing seat belts, according to Troopers.
Two vehicles were totaled, and three others had reportable damage.
