Tukwila Police arrested a man on Sunday evening, May 1, 2025 after he allegedly hid inside a department store in the Southcenter District and stole jewelry after closing hours.
Officers responded to a burglary alarm and found the man standing in the store’s vestibule, which had already closed for the day.
When confronted, the suspect attempted to push his way out but was quickly detained, police said.
The suspect was found in possession of jewelry taken from the store.
Surveillance footage showed that he had hidden himself inside before closing, then broke into a jewelry cabinet after the store had shut down.
He was booked into jail on burglary charges.
No injuries were reported.
