A burglary suspect with more than 20 prior convictions was tracked down and arrested earlier this week with the help of Tukwila Police Department’s K9 Raider after fleeing into a wooded area.
Officers with the department’s Nights A crew responded to a burglary in progress at a business in the 4000 block of South 139th Street (map below).
As officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot, prompting a search that lasted nearly two hours.
K9 Raider and his handler assisted in tracking the suspect, who was ultimately located hiding in dense brush.
“Raider was instrumental in searching for, and locating numerous pieces of evidence tied to the suspect and the burglary,” the department said in a statement.
The suspect was described as a prolific offender with more than 20 prior convictions, many of them felonies. He was booked into jail on multiple charges.
“This was a great coordinated effort by our K9 unit and Nights A patrol officers to make sure this individual was apprehended,” the department added. “It is also yet another unfortunate example of the frequency in which we are encountering repeat offenders that put our community and officers at risk.”
