As the holiday season ramps up, the Tukwila Police Department is reminding residents to take precautions to protect their packages from thieves.

With an increase in online shopping and deliveries, package thefts often rise during this time of year.

Here are tips from Tukwila police to ensure your holiday deliveries remain safe:

  • For the holidays, you can’t beat home sweet home! Choose a delivery date when you’re home to bring packages inside ASAP.
  • Check it twice! Use the included tracking to know when your items will be delivered.
  • Your order is coming to town! If you’ve had past package thefts or just want to be on the safe side, consider getting your order delivered to an Amazon locker.
  • We’re gonna find out who is naughty or nice. If you are a victim of a package theft, please report in-progress (it’s happening right now) incidents to 911.
  • Give us a jingle! If the theft has already occurred, make a report online or call our non-emergency number at 206-241-2121.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.

The department also reminds community members to keep their holiday spirit intact by staying cautious but not overly alarmed.
