Tukwila Police Officers Johnson and Hiatt are being recognized for their heroic life-saving actions following an emergency welfare check on the night of April 13, 2024.
Police said that at approximately 10 p.m. that night, the officers were dispatched to the 16300 block of 42nd Ave S. in Tukwila (map below), where they found an unresponsive adult male on a bench with foil in his lap.
During their initial assessment, the officers were unable to locate a pulse. Officer Johnson immediately began chest compressions while Officer Hiatt applied an AED to the man.
They administered a dose of Narcan and continued chest compressions.
After about four minutes, the man began to breathe independently, and a pulse was detected.
“The actions of Officer Johnson and Officer Hiatt directly led to the fact that this individual is still alive today,” police said.
