The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will be closing four of five lanes on southbound I-5 near Southcenter starting at 9 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 23, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, then northbound I-5 at the same location from 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 through 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 25.
The closure is for emergency repairs to several damaged concrete panels.
If these panels continue to deteriorate, unscheduled lane closures may be needed until the panels can be repaired.
With just a single lane scheduled to be open, WSDOT is asking travelers to plan ahead, reschedule discretionary trips, use alternate routes or add extra time to their trips during the closure.
