Applications are now being accepted for the Spring 2024 Community Police Academy, an opportunity for those who live or work in Tukwila to get an in-depth look at police operations.

The program – which beings Mar. 5, 2024 – is designed to educate the community on the role of the police department while building and strengthening relationships.

This is a free eight-week program, with the final class being graduation.

Classes cover various topics and roles within the Tukwila Police Department.

Starting Mar. 5, classes will be held in the Justice Center’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights.

Class size is limited, and only those who preregister can attend.

Parking is adjacent to the Justice Center on S. 150th.

Application process and requirements

To participate, you must be willing to commit to attending at least 6 of the 10 sessions. Priority is given to those who live or work in Tukwila city limits. To be eligible, you must meet the following:

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • No prior felony convictions
  • Must attend at least 8 of the ten classes
  • Attendees who miss more than two classes will be asked to reapply to a later session

Only applicants who have successfully registered, passed a background check and received confirmation of acceptance will be permitted to attend this academy. Please submit completed applications by February 23rd.
