“Every year, we work with the Social Workers at elementary schools within the City of Tukwila. They pick students and their families who could use extra love this holiday season. Students are sent home with a Wish List for their families to fill out together, and they bring it to our big shopping day to fulfill their wants and needs. Our officers pick up the students for the big day and then are assigned an officer to shop with for their families.

“After shopping, we gift wrap and have lunch, and then the student is dropped off at home by an officer who helps to bring the wrapped gifts inside. Every student had about $850 each to shop for their family at Target and JCPenney this year.

“This big day of shopping and giving is made possible by the donations we receive from Target, Westfield Southcenter, Acura of Seattle (here in Tukwila), Puget Sound Fire, and Chick-fil-A Southcenter. We even had some officer’s family members join us to help wrap and shop with the kids.

“We are thrilled to bring departments, stores, and restaurants in our community to give to 10 Tukwila families this year and hope this brings joy to them this holiday season!”
