Tukwila Police are reporting of a recent arrest of a burglary suspect that involved a foot pursuit:

Just after 1 a.m. (on Sept. 1, 2022), officers responded to a burglary alarm at a business in the 200 block of Minkler Blvd. (map below).

Upon arriving in the area, officers observed a Jeep Gladiator parked directly in front of the door of the business. As officers approached the door, a suspect in the vehicle spotted the officers and fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed while honking their horn. The vehicle shortly thereafter circled back around with the driver still honking the horn then fled the scene.

Thanks to our two veteran officers on scene, they recognized the honking as being an audible warning to others who were inside. Low and behold, their instincts were right as they spotted a 35-year-old male from Seattle wearing a ski mask and gloves standing at the pried open doors of the business. The suspect spotted the officers and decided to partake in some felony cardio by attempting to flee on foot from officers.

The Tukwila PD Track Team rose to the occasion and pursued the suspect on foot. The suspect refused to stop and was tackled by an officer and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was booked into jail on burglary charges. The case was forwarded to the Major Crimes Unit (MCU) for further investigation.
