Tukwila Police announced on Monday afternoon, June 1, 2020 that – as a result of the events of Sunday night in the city and throughout the region – there will be a citywide curfew in effect starting at 8 p.m. tonight, and ending at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

There will be several street closures in effect as well in the Southcenter District.

“We are aware of several posts being shared related to possible further looting attempts in the region today and tomorrow,” police said. “We encourage businesses that can do so to board up your properties to avoid potential damage.”

Police also encourage businesses and commercial property managers in the Southcenter area to close off parking lots to assist with restricting vehicular access to properties after hours.

Police will also have extra officers patrolling the entire city.

“Our law enforcement partners are aware and on standby to assist us again like last night if the need arises.”

Police say they will regularly post updates and information throughout the day (on Facebook and Twitter).
