Walking starts at 2:15 p.m. \nWHO: Walkers of every level and ability\, plus four-legged friends \nWHERE: Meet on the grassy knoll at Burien Town Square (480 SW 152nd Street Burien\, WA. at the corner of SW 152nd & 5th Place SW). \nDISTANCE: About 2.5 miles\, round trip. We want to keep stuff out of the landfill\, conserve resources and save you money. FREE to the public! \nYou must be present during the repair. Our experienced general “fixers” and sewing fixers will try to repair or mend your items\, and can often also give you useful advice. There are no guarantees an item can be fixed\, or that attempting to fix it won’t break it even more. \nPlease only bring items small enough to be easily carried in by one person. Do not bring any items that are leaking\, dangerous\, contain gasoline\, or have a strong odor. DESCRIPTION:‘Out of the Shadows’ – an art show inspired by punk\, goth and alley art – will be held at the Community Folk Art Gallery in Burien on Friday\, Sept. 6. \n“People are hungry for arts and culture\, and the bacteria-ridden counterculture scenes of punk\, goth and alley art should produce a fine crop\,” Curator Amber Raven said. \n“The reception should be fairly sweet\, there’ll be some live painting\, instillation work\, sticker swap\, buttons\, zines\, d and d\, and some cool custom screen printed t-shirts from our friends at Clone Press\,” she added. “All kinds of fun stuff set to a cool scene!” \n \nThe event has also been offered up as a resource for local arts groups to come and hang out\, with the intent of some networking done in a casual non-solicitous way. Oftentimes\, organic conversations can contribute to impactful interactions/relationships. Garth Jacobson – running for Port Position 5 – is also confirmed. “We are grateful that Mr. Cho\, Mr. Degginger\, and Mr. Jacobson will appear and discuss these issues that are of such importance to so many voters in King County – and in particular\, voters among the 240\,000 citizens in the six “airport neighbor communities” – Burien\, Des Moines\, Federal Way\, Normandy Park\, Seatac\, and Tukwila. We also know that airport operation increases and expansion has created high interest from other impacted communities – including Vashon-Maury Island\, Kent\, Beacon Hill\, and many others” said Quiet Skies Coalition President Larry Cripe. \nScott Schaefer\, South King Media founder and editor for seven hyper-local media news blogs\, will serve as moderator.
