Accessories in good shape are welcome too! \nThis event is made possible in part by support from the King County Solid Waste Division.

DESCRIPTION:The historic Delta Masonic Hall in Tukwila will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a public commemoration at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday\, Sept. 26\, 2026. \nThe event will mark 100 years and one day after Grandmaster Walter F. Meir\, of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Washington\, laid the cornerstone for the hall on Sept. 25\, 1926\, in the lower Riverton area of what is now Tukwila. \nTukwila Mayor Thomas McLeod is scheduled to present a proclamation\, and the grandmaster of Washington Masons will lead a ceremony to rededicate the cornerstone. \nDelta Lodge No. 172 was chartered in 1909 by 25 Masons\, including pioneer Joseph Foster. The lodge met in rented facilities for 17 years before building its own Masonic hall at the Tukwila site. \nFor more than a century\, Delta Masonic Hall has served as a gathering place for meetings\, weddings\, birthdays\, anniversaries\, quinceaneras\, funerals\, memorials\, education and other community events. \nThe commemoration will include light refreshments\, tours of the building\, library and museum\, historic photographs\, and old documents\, including property tax statements from 100 years ago compared with current taxes. \n“The public and community are most cordially invited to this joyous celebration of a beautiful\, historic 100 year old building\,” Masons said. \nThe event is open to the public. SUMMARY:‘Caboose Capitalism’ brings free weekly gatherings to Southcenter starting Sunday\, Sept. 27
DESCRIPTION:A new weekly gathering in Tukwila will invite neighbors to meet\, share ideas\, practice English and make friends beginning this Sunday\, Sept. 27. \nCaboose Capitalism will host its free gatherings at 11 a.m. Sundays in the upper level food court at Westfield Southcenter. \nThe woman-led\, ad-free community project is based in Tukwila and describes its central idea as putting “human connection above all else.” \nThe project was founded by Ellei Lotus\, a local home inspector who said the gatherings are intended to give neighbors a welcoming place to connect. \n“The caboose is where the celebration is\,” Lotus said\, sharing the project’s motto. \nThe org’s website says: \n“I started Caboose Capitalism as an archive — a place to upload my personal memories\, thoughts\, questions\, grief\, and need for connection with other human beings around the earth during this late stage capitalism disease. \n“One of my seventh grade teachers told us that individuals can and do make a difference. I have never stopped believing that — not even when society shoved me down and told me I was undeserving of anything. Well. I am here to tell the world that is absolutely not true. \n“Ellei founded Caboose Capitalism in Tukwila\, Washington\, and soft-launched it on August 25\, 2026. \n“Pull up a chair\, neighbor.”👋🤠 \nCoffee and tea donated by Starbucks will be available. DESCRIPTION:Tukwila Mayor Thomas McLeod will host a community open house Wednesday\, Sept. 30 on regional transit in north Tukwila\, including updates on the long planned Boeing Access Road light rail station and other possible transit options. \nThe open house will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Museum of Flight (map below)\, according to a social media post from McLeod. Sound Transit\, the City of Tukwila and community partners are expected to participate. \nMcLeod said the Boeing Access Road station remains a key transit priority for Tukwila and South King County. \n“The City has consistently reminded Sound Transit that it is important to fulfill this 30-year-old commitment to South King County\,” McLeod said. \nThis spring\, the Sound Transit Board adopted Resolution No. R2026-11 to address affordability challenges facing voter approved Sound Transit 3 projects. McLeod\, who serves on the Sound Transit Board\, said he was involved in developing the resolution and advocated for projects and investments important to Tukwila and South King County. \nAs part of the resolution\, Sound Transit committed to moving forward with full design of the Boeing Access Road station\, McLeod said. Tukwila staff and Sound Transit are continuing work on project design\, environmental review and right of way coordination. \nHowever\, McLeod said the resolution does not currently provide a path to construction for the station. He said the South King Subarea is supporting several past and ongoing construction projects\, limiting funding available for future projects such as Boeing Access Road. \nTukwila staff are working with federal and state government affairs teams to identify possible third party funding to help deliver the station\, McLeod said. \nMcLeod said he added an amendment\, supported by the Sound Transit Board\, directing Sound Transit to identify cost savings and alternative financing and delivery options for the station. That work must be developed and presented to the full board by February 2027. \n“I will continue pushing Sound Transit to follow through on this commitment\,” McLeod said. \nMcLeod also said he secured $10 million in the resolution for Sound Transit to work with Tukwila\, King County Metro and other partners to explore alternative transit options in north Tukwila while work continues toward the Boeing Access Road station. \n“There is still work ahead\, but we are making progress\,” McLeod said. \n“As Mayor and as a Sound Transit Board member\, I am committed to delivering more transit options for Tukwila and South King County\, McLeod said. “I hope you will join us on September 30 to learn more and share your thoughts about the future of transit in our community.”
