A “No Kings: Vote Early” rally is planned outside the Southcenter IHOP in Tukwila this Saturday, Oct. 17, with organizers encouraging voter participation ahead of the upcoming midterm election.

The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at 17250 Southcenter Parkway, near the intersection of Southcenter Parkway and Minkler Boulevard (map below). Organizers plan to distribute flyers with information about registering to vote, checking voter registration and finding ballot drop boxes.

“This is not just a rally, but turning people power into voter power,” organizers said in the announcement.

Organizers describe the event as a nonpartisan effort to help eligible voters understand how to vote and encourage them to participate.

Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes, funny hats, wigs, bright clothing or other items that draw attention to the message. The announcement suggests Statue of Liberty costumes, inflatable dinosaurs and even a ballot drop box costume.

Organizers ask participants to act lawfully, avoid escalating confrontations and follow the movement’s commitment to nonviolent action. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to the event, according to the announcement.
