Tukwila Police arrested a man on suspicion of unlawful firearm possession after finding a handgun while investigating a report of two people slumped over in a vehicle in the 300 block of Strander Boulevard (map below).
Police said that officers responded on Sunday, Sept. 13 and found both occupants with visible drug paraphernalia in their laps. Officers were able to wake them.
During a frisk, officers found a handgun on the man in the driver’s seat. Police said his previous conviction for second degree robbery prohibited him from legally possessing a firearm.
The handgun was registered to a person in Kirkland, according to police. Tukwila officers asked Kirkland police to contact the registered owner, who said he was out of state and that no one should have possession of his firearm.
Kirkland police are investigating the reported theft of the gun and a possible related burglary, the department said.
Officers also found drugs, drug paraphernalia and counterfeit cash in the man’s possession, according to Tukwila police.
The man was booked into jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm. Police said additional charges are pending investigation.
