The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the driver who died after a vehicle plunged into the Duwamish River in Tukwila on Saturday, Mar. 21.

The victim was identified as Kent Richard Schwartzenberger, 60, of Tukwila.

The medical examiner determined the cause of death was drowning and ruled the manner of death an accident.

As we previously reported, the crash occurred on northbound WA 599 just north of Tukwila International Boulevard, according to the medical examiner’s report.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the crash.

The death follows an earlier report of a vehicle entering the river in Tukwila, which prompted an emergency response and recovery efforts. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
