A driver narrowly avoided serious injury on Friday, Jan. 30 after missing the northbound SR 599 ramp to Tukwila International Boulevard and nearly entering the Duwamish River, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred on the northbound SR 599 ramp to Tukwila International Boulevard, where the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, then missed the turn and left the roadway.

The vehicle stopped short of the river, and no injuries were reported.

“Talk about lucky!” No injuries and tow is on scene,” the Washington State Patrol said in a social media post.

Troopers said the ramp was temporarily blocked while crews worked to recover the vehicle.

The roadway reopened once the vehicle was removed.

The Washington State Patrol did not release additional details about the driver or whether any citations were issued.
