A driver was arrested early Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025 after fleeing from troopers on northbound I-5 in Federal Way, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Trooper Rick Johnson said the chase began in Federal Way and continued as the driver exited onto northbound I-405 in Tukwila.

Troopers deployed spike strips, slowing the vehicle, and then used a pursuit intervention technique to bring it to a stop.

The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and eluding.

The ramp from northbound I-405 to southbound SR 167 was blocked briefly while the scene was cleared.

Johnson said a tow truck responded, the vehicle was impounded and the ramp was reopened.
