Tukwila Police officers were called to two separate and simultaneous incidents involving reports of weapons and erratic behavior Wednesday morning, June 11, 2025, resulting in one arrest and a temporary shutdown of Tukwila International Boulevard.

Police said that at around 9 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man walking in and out of traffic near Wig Boulevard and Southcenter Parkway while allegedly armed with a knife. Officers located the individual, who appeared highly agitated and threw a rock at a patrol vehicle. After creating distance and using verbal de-escalation tactics, officers determined the man was unarmed and successfully calmed him.

While that situation was being resolved, a second call came in reporting a man carrying what appeared to be a pistol in a clear bag while walking southbound near 112th Street on Tukwila International Boulevard.

According to police, the man pointed the bag at an officer and made a motion simulating gunfire before continuing to walk away.

Officers shut down traffic in both directions and repeatedly ordered the man to stop and raise his hands, but he ignored commands and moved toward a busy intersection and residential area. At that point, an officer deployed a 40mm less-lethal projectile to stop the man.

The tactic was successful, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

He was treated at the scene by the fire department for previously existing injuries and then booked into jail on suspicion of two counts of placing a person in fear or apprehension by threat, and obstructing a public servant.
