Have you been looking for ways to get more involved in your community but you’re not sure how? Do you need flexibility and convenience in your volunteer schedule?
As a volunteer driver for King County Metro’s Community Van, you can give back by helping neighbors travel where they need to go.
Community Van operates in 17 cities with limited transportation options, including Tukwila, Skyway and SeaTac here in South King. With the help of volunteer drivers, anyone can reserve a Community Van with two to 12 riders to get to appointments, events or other destinations.

It’s an easy, reservation-based rideshare service available 24/7. Trips are scheduled at least two business days in advance, giving you time to choose volunteer driver rides that fit your schedule.
For adult riders, the cost is only $3 and can be paid with a monthly ORCA card, Transit GO ticket mobile app or Human Services ticket. Youth under 18 always ride free. Low-income and senior riders may qualify for $1 fare. (E-Purse ORCA cards and cash are not accepted.)
Unlike traditional bus service, Community Vans do not operate on a permanent route or schedule. Instead, riders can request trips from anywhere within one of the 17 participating cities to their destination, up to two hours away. This makes Community Van a great solution for traveling with a group, a team or your family!
The best part about volunteering as a driver is you can help neighbors connect to each other, which is so important for building a strong community. Plus, drivers always ride free, and van maintenance, insurance, gas and tolls are free, too.
Give back to your South King County community that has done so much for you — volunteer as a driver today. Just fill out the web form and you’ll be on the road helping neighbors travel together soon!
