A crash involving a vehicle that struck a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) attenuator truck temporarily closed lanes on northbound SR 99 near Des Moines Memorial Drive in Tukwila on Thursday, Feb. 19, before all lanes later reopened, according to WSDOT and the Washington State Patrol.
WSDOT initially reported that the right lane of northbound SR 99 at milepost 25 was closed Thursday afternoon following the collision, with the Washington State Patrol and an Incident Response Team responding to the scene.
An update later indicated the left lane had reopened while the right lane remained closed as crews continued to manage the incident near Des Moines Memorial Drive.
According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson, the WSDOT attenuator truck was parked on the right shoulder protecting workers when a white truck drifted onto the shoulder and struck the attenuator. Johnson said the driver of the white truck was the only person injured and reported head and leg pain.
WSDOT later confirmed the collision had been cleared and that all lanes of northbound SR 99 in Tukwila were reopened to traffic.
