Tukwila Police arrested an adult male early Friday morning after a vehicle pursuit that ended with an officer discharging a firearm, though no injuries were reported, according to the Tukwila Police Department.
Police said officers contacted the suspect around 3:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, in the 4200 block of South 146th Street after noticing he was driving an unlicensed vehicle.
The suspect ignored officers’ commands and fled, and the vehicle was later determined to be stolen.
A pursuit was authorized, and officers followed the vehicle until an officer used a PIT maneuver to stop it in the 14200 block of Tukwila International Boulevard (map below), police said.
At the conclusion of the pursuit, an officer discharged a firearm. No injuries were reported as a result of either the PIT maneuver or the firearm discharge.
The suspect was taken into custody and is being booked into jail on charges of eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while license suspended in the first degree and driving under the influence, police said.
Tukwila International Boulevard was temporarily closed in the 14200 block while the incident was investigated. A Washington State Patrol evidence team was called to the scene to process evidence.
The officer who discharged the firearm has been placed on administrative leave, which police said is standard procedure whenever an officer fires a weapon.
