An adult woman was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation Wednesday, afternoon, Jan. 21 after Tukwila police assisted Washington State Patrol troopers with a hit and run suspect in a business parking lot on Southcenter Boulevard.

Officers responded to the 5300 block of Southcenter Boulevard (map below) to assist troopers who had stopped a suspect vehicle driven by the woman, police said.

Tukwila officers, a hostage negotiator and mental health professionals were called to the scene.

Police said the woman made suicidal statements to the hostage negotiator and ingested numerous pills while seated in the driver seat of the vehicle. She later exited the vehicle and aggressively approached officers, at which point she was taken into custody.

A detective with the department Special Emphasis Unit suffered minor injuries while detaining the woman, police said. No other injuries were reported.

The woman was transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation, according to the Tukwila Police Department.
