Officers with the Tukwila Police Department reported a series of arrests, impaired driving investigations and a successful animal rescue during recent patrol activity across the city.
Police said Officer Mosley stopped a vehicle in the 6200 block of Southcenter Parkway after noticing it did not have license plates. During the stop, officers recognized the female driver as someone with a history of law enforcement contacts and suspected she was harboring a fugitive registered sex offender with a Department of Corrections escape warrant. The woman was arrested for driving while license suspended in the third degree. Officers later went to her residence, where the male with the DOC warrant exited the home and was taken into custody and booked into jail.
In a separate incident, Officer Enebrad stopped a vehicle after observing it driving without headlights. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment and declined to participate in field sobriety tests. The driver also refused to identify himself. He was booked into jail, where officers later discovered his identification hidden in his underwear.
Officer Nunez conducted a traffic stop in the 7200 block of South 152nd Street after noticing signs of impairment. Police said the driver was over the legal blood alcohol concentration limit and had eight prior DUI convictions, including one felony DUI conviction. The driver also had an active fraud warrant and was booked into jail.
Police said Officer Montano stopped a vehicle with five occupants in the 4400 block of Southcenter Parkway. One occupant fled the vehicle on foot but was later located. Officers discovered that all four remaining occupants had warrants, including one felony warrant. All five individuals were booked into jail.
In another incident, Officer Anderson observed a woman acting suspiciously inside a store in the 300 block of Strander Boulevard. Police said loss prevention staff observed the woman concealing merchandise. She exited the store without paying and was arrested for shoplifting and booked into jail.
Police also reported a successful animal rescue after Officer Desmul responded to a report of a dog struck by a vehicle in the 13900 block of Tukwila International Boulevard. The officer located the dog in serious condition and transported it to BluePearl Animal Hospital, where veterinarians were able to save the dog’s life.
