Emergency repairs were completed late Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 on a small sinkhole discovered during routine flood patrols of the Green River levee system in Tukwila South, according to the City of Tukwila.
King County crews, with technical assistance from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, completed the repair around 11:30 p.m. after the sinkhole was identified during inspections of the levee.
Officials said the area was safely opened, stabilized with new material, and secured.
Tukwila Public Works and Tukwila Police departments assisted with site safety and traffic control while the work was underway, the city said.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff are expected to return to inspect the emergency repairs. City officials said additional data collection may occur, and further repairs could be needed in the coming days.
King County has also updated its flood patrol route to increase monitoring at the site as a precaution, according to the city. Officials said updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
