A Tukwila Police officer and a mental health provider helped a woman and young child find emergency shelter last week after responding to a report of a person soliciting in the 300 block of Strander Boulevard, according to police.
When Officer Johnson arrived on scene, he determined the woman and child were experiencing a housing crisis and had nowhere to stay.
Police said he requested assistance from Mental Health Provider Fisk, who began arranging support services and resources for the pair.
While those arrangements were underway, Officer Johnson secured a hotel room for the woman and child and used his BlueBridge Alliance card to cover the cost, the department said.
By the next morning, MHP Fisk had helped connect them with longer term housing options.
Police said the incident highlights the department’s partnership with the BlueBridge Alliance, which helps officers provide immediate assistance to individuals and families facing urgent needs.
