Tukwila Police arrested a Level III Sex Offender with multiple felony convictions while patrolling a troubled area near S. 146th Street and Military Road South (map below), the department announced Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Police said that officers contacted a group of people Tuesday who were reportedly loitering and using narcotics at the site of a recent cleanup and restoration effort. Police said the area had become a hot spot for criminal activity and drug sales, just a block from a bus stop used by more than 30 children and near several family apartment complexes.

During the contact, officers discovered one of the men had an active warrant for his arrest. He was identified as a Level III sex offender with felony convictions that include burglary, second-degree assault, failure to register as a sex offender, second-degree rape, unlawful imprisonment and child molestation.

A woman who was with him also had a criminal history, including convictions for forgery and narcotics distribution, according to police.

“The area will continue to be actively patrolled by officers with participation from the community calling in issues as they arise to ensure that it is safe for residents and businesses to enjoy,” Tukwila Police said in a statement.

Police said community cooperation will remain key in keeping the location safe for families and commuters.
