Tukwila Police officers took two men into custody in separate incidents this week, including one wanted for attempted murder and another accused of fraud involving multiple IDs.
According to police, night shift officers were alerted by the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) about a suspect wanted for second-degree attempted murder. Officers familiar with the man found him in the 3600 block of South 152nd Street and arrested him without incident.
Earlier in the day, officers responded to a business after receiving a report of a man suspected of using multiple IDs in fraudulent transactions at several affiliated retail locations. Police said the suspect had also attempted the same scheme earlier in the day in Renton.
When officers arrived, the suspect fled on foot into a nearby business. He was arrested without incident and found to have an outstanding warrant for third-degree theft.
“Realizing that he was going to jail for the warrant and or the fraud charge, he tried his hand at the ‘I just swallowed drugs’ get out of jail free charge,” police said. “An officer instead took him to the hospital for evaluation and to be medically cleared for booking into jail.”
Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
