The Tukwila City Council is seeking applicants to temporarily fill Council Position No. 6 as a pro tem (temporary) member, with applications due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025.
The pro tem councilmember will temporarily fill Position 6, currently held by Jovita McConnell, who has been on an excused leave of absence since late April following a serious medical event.
The appointment will allow the council to maintain its full membership while McConnell is unavailable to serve.
To qualify, applicants must be registered to vote in Tukwila and have lived in the city for at least one year.
The appointment will last until McConnell returns, resigns, or until the certification of the November 2027 General Election.
Applications must include a completed form, letter of interest, and optional resume, submitted by email, mail, in person, or to the drop box at Tukwila City Hall.
Interviews for qualified candidates are scheduled for a special council meeting on Monday, Aug. 25.
Appointees must file a financial affairs statement with the Washington Public Disclosure Commission and understand that all application materials are public records.
