The Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District (TPMPD) is pleased to announce a significant milestone in its effort to enhance and expand a community aquatic facility for the community.

On July 24, 2025, the King County Executive released an official funding proposal recommending a $5 million grant, the maximum amount available through the King County Aquatic Facilities Grant Program.

This proposed funding would support the design and construction of a modern, inclusive, and accessible aquatics center in Tukwila.

The project aims to replace the current 52-year-old, heavily used pool facility with one that better meets the needs of our growing and diverse community.

The proposal now advances to the King County Council for final approval, the last step in the grant process.

“This recommendation is a tremendous step forward for our community,” said TPMPD leadership.
of advocacy, planning, and a shared commitment to health, recreation, and inclusion.”

To fulfill the hopes and prospects of this project, the TPMPD is actively exploring additional grant opportunities and strategic partnerships to help fund construction. These supplemental resources will help ensure the new facility is built to meet both current needs and future growth.

We are deeply grateful to King County voters for their continued support of the Parks Levy, which makes essential investments like this possible. The levy plays a vital role in enhancing local parks, pools, and public spaces across the region.

To our patrons, partners, and neighbors: thank you. Your continued engagement and support have helped bring us to this exciting moment. Together, we look forward to building a facility that serves Tukwila and the greater South Seattle region for generations to come.

The Tukwila Pool Metropolitan Park District is a Special Purpose District: a publicly owned government entity funded through property taxes by the residents and businesses within the district boundaries. The vision of the TPMPD: to contribute to the quality of life for our community and for future generations, through welcoming, fun, safe, and positive aquatic experiences at the Tukwila Pool.
