Tukwila Police officers are being credited with saving a man’s life after responding to a suspected overdose late Monday night in the 200 block of Andover Park West.
According to the Tukwila Police Department, night shift officers found the man unresponsive, pulseless, and blue in color.
Police said that narcotics were observed on his person, suggesting a potential fentanyl-related overdose.
Officers immediately administered Narcan and performed multiple rounds of CPR until fire and medical personnel arrived on scene.
The man eventually regained a pulse and was transported to a local hospital.
“All of our officers carry and are trained on the use of Narcan,” police said in a statement. “Due to the Fentanyl crisis, there have been many instances where we have had to administer it to those overdosing. In many of those cases, the individual survived. If you notice someone slumped over, unresponsive or otherwise are concerned for their well-being, please do not hesitate to call 911.”
Police emphasized the importance of calling 911 if someone appears slumped over or unresponsive:
“Every second counts.”
